Simon Mann (cricket commentator)

Simon Mann (born Bristol) is a BBC radio sports commentator, most notable for being a member of the 'Test Match Special' team, which he joined in 1996.[1]

Career

He joined the BBC in 1990 and first reported on Test matches for Radio Five Live four years later.

He reported on two World Cups, before joining the Test Match Special commentary team for the first time on England's 1996 tour to Zimbabwe.

His broadcasting highlight came during the 1999 World Cup when he described the closing overs of the South Africa v Australia semi-final for BBC TV: "It was an exciting, unpredictable one-day game with a dramatic and bizarre finish."

In October 2007 he commentated on the England-Sri Lanka ODI series in Sri Lanka.

Another broadcasting highlight: In June 2011, during a rain delay commentary stint on the England vs Sri Lanka Test Match, Simon uttered the immortal phrase, "Has anybody seen Mike Hunt" to stunned silence from his colleagues. He did later correct this, referring to Michael Hunt, the head groundsman аt Lord’s.

Simon is an ardent Bristol City supporter.
